Having started my list of classics that I need to read, I have just finished "The Picture Of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde. Needless to say it's a fantastic book, perfectly displaying how easily influence can corrupt people. Although I found the end quite depressing, Wilde's attention to detail is impeccable, especially when expressing philosophical views through his characters. I can't mention any particular moments, as I would not wish to ruin it, but i will say this: If you haven't read it, then do so, as it really is worth it.Wednesday, 4 December 2013

The Wise Man's Fear
Having now finished "The Wise Man's Fear" (which is incidently 900-and-something pages long), I am able to tell you how truly wonderful it is. Continuing from "The Name Of The Wind", it goes deeper into Kvothe's life and, to put it plainly, just gets more incredible. Unfortunately I have to wait for 2014 to read "The Doors Of Stone" as it currently isn't out yet, so in then mean time I'm going to be knocking books off The Guardian's 100 Greatest Novels of All Time (http://www.theguardian.com/books/2003/oct/12/features.fiction) and The Top 100 Books of All Time (http://www.theguardian.com/world/2002/may/08/books.booksnews). Happy reading.Tuesday, 22 October 2013
The Catcher in the Rye
Although at first I found this book mildly interesting, further on I found that the narrator (Holden Caulfield) became... frustrating to listen to. Looking back, I realise that his characteristics are probbly due to his past, and if I were to read this book again, then I would probably understand the concept that Salinger has written about. As a classic, I would reccomend it to be read once, but as I felt it a bit of a struggle to finish (and unless you wish to understand it fully), I would suggest that once is enough.Saturday, 19 October 2013
The Name of the Wind
Right then, the first book I'm going to look at is "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. The first thing that I need to say about this book, is that it is, in short, amazing. When I say amazing, I don't just mean that the plot is really good, or that the characters just "spring to life", I mean that not only is it well-written, but unlike so many other books it makes you patient. Whilst many stories give you the details you want to know as soon as they know you want them, "The Name of the Wind" holds its secrets until one of them is relevent, so it will be spoken, and the others are left in the shadows, only to be brought up as you might have begun to forget them.Never before have I read such a well-detailed, yet not over-the-top book, and I strongly reccomend that if you love a book from the fantasy genre, then this just has to be read.

Welcome
I generally find that when it's raining, snowing, hailing or just being
sunny, I like to just sit inside and read. Unfortuantely, many people
either don't like reading, or just don't have the time to. For the
latter, I'm afraid I can't do anything to help, however for the people
who "don't like reading" my general response is: You just haven't found
the right book.
So here I am, clearly with nothing better to do than to read books and tell you what I think of them. Good, bad or ugly, I'll give an honest review, so that hopefully you can find the right book/series/saga/chronicle/trilogy for you.
Here it is, open to you - my bookshelf.
